WESTERN DAYS ART SHOW GUILDELINES

 

The Mustang Arts Council (MAC) invites you to participate in the 

Western Days Community Art Show on September 9, 2023.

 

Theme: Bustin’ at the Buckle!

 

The Mustang Arts Council has partnered with the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mustang to host this community art show in its mission to provide opportunities for artists and to promote arts education in the Mustang community. 

 

Artwork will be on display Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mustang Town Center foyer. All award ribbons will be placed by Saturday at 3:00 p.m. It has been estimated that 30,000 people attend Western Days events each year throughout Mustang.

 

Awards Presented 

Judge's Choice and People's Choice Awards for the following categories: K-4th Grade, 5-8th Grade, High School, Adult

 

Submitting Artwork: 

  • Submission Deadline: Please CLICK HERE TO REGISTER AS AN ARTIST by September 8, 2023.

  • Students K-12 may submit one item for display in the art show. Please have artwork ready for display 
    (for example: matted, framed, or mounted to construction paper). 

  • Adult artists over age 18 may submit up to three items for display. Artwork must be ready for display. 

  • There are no size or media requirements for this show.

  • If your work has any special requirements such as electrical needs for video, please contact us by 
    September 5, so we can make the proper arrangements.

  • Drop off artwork at the town center on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. You may wish to bring your own easel or display boards for use in the show as well. We will have a few table top and free standing easels available.

  • Pick up artwork at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Fees

The participation fee for adult artists is $15. CLICK HERE TO PAY.

Children 18 and under are FREE.

Eligibility

The student category includes students Kindergarten-12th grade. Artists in the adult category must be age 18+. Entries must not violate copyright laws (for example, popular cartoon or anime characters) and must be family friendly (no nudity, violence, controversial or mature content). All works must be ready to exhibit. Artist’s Name, Phone #, and Title must be on the back of each piece. 

 

Sales

No sales can be made directly from the art show; however artists are are welcome to leave business cards at our info table to make arrangements privately. Artists also have the opportunity to rent a booth through the Mustang Chamber of Commerce at www.MustangWesternDays.com

 

Promotion

This event will be promoted with all Western Days events. Brochures go home with every student in the district. The Mustang Arts Council will additionally advertise on their website and on social media. 

 

Disclosure

Insurance is the responsibility of the artist. Artists participating in this show agree to allow reproduction privileges of the art show for education, fund raising, or publicity purposes only. 

 

Volunteers

We will need to enlist the help of volunteers to put the show together. We will need people to move tables, displays and artwork, and we will need people willing to sign up for shifts to keep an eye on the work during the festivities.
